Ex-Molde Defender Hails Solskjaer As Clever

Norway and Toulouse defender Ruben Gabrielsen has heaped praise on his compatriot and Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Gabrielsen and Solskjaer worked together for three years during their time with Eliteserien giants Molde FK, and the 28-year-old believes Solskjaer is a clever man and a magician when it comes to big games.

The Norwegian seems to have steadied the ship following a poor start to the 2019-2020 season, where he came under intense pressure.

The Red Devils were ready to sack Solskjaer for Mauricio Pochettino according to media reports, but the board decided to stick with their former player, a decision which has yielded results as United are unbeaten in their last eleven matches.

Despite Manchester’s inconsistent form this season, Solskjaer’s men are known for delivering good results against the big teams in England.

Gabrielsen has revealed he is unsurprised about the 47-year-old’s ability to defeat big teams and insists he has learned a lot from his former gaffer.

“For me he (Solskjaer) was fantastic,” the centre-back told Get French Football News.

“I learned a lot of great things about football and about life. He’s a fantastic human. He knows humans, he knows how to talk to you, he knows what you need, so I learned so much from him, and I’m forever grateful.”

“He’s really, really clever. He thinks football 24/7. He likes to experiment, and when it comes to big games it’s like, the plan is in his head and when he gives you the plan, everything that he said will happen is going to happen.”

“English football in Norway is huge, and I see what they write, but I know how he is and what he’s thinking.”

“Like you say, the big games he’s played with United now, it’s all good results, so I think maybe when it’s not a big game, sometimes he can do better – but in big games, he’s a magician.”
