Martinez is one of the most in-demand players on European football market, with clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all thought to be in pole position to secure his services.
However, recent media reports claim that the Blues and Manchester City have outbid the Spanish giants, with both English clubs ready to meet Martinez’s demands.
The 22-year-old is flourishing under coach Antonio Conte, having scored 16 goals in 31 games for the Nerazzurri in all competitions, before the season was suspended due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
Godin is not surprised by speculations around the Argentina striker and has likened his talent to the two of the best marksmen in South America.
‘He has something of Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero about him,’ the former Atletico Madrid captain told ESPN.
‘Lautaro is learning to use his body, to play with his back to goal.
‘He is powerful, has a strong physique. He’s already confident, but that belief is growing with every game.’
He shows skills and does things of players with 10-15 years more experience.’
Despite the increasing speculation over Martinez’s future, his agent has recently assured Inter Milan that his client will stay with the Milan-based club.
