All the major European leagues have been suspended together with continental competitions. This summer’s European Championship has been postponed to 2021 just to help the various leagues to be completed.
The Belarusian Premier League remains the only competition yet be halted as fans rush in their numbers to the various stadia during matchdays.
The Global Footballers’ Union, FifPro, recently came out to condemn the Belarus Football Federation for condoning the decision to keep playing football despite the threat of the virus.
In an interview with ESPN, Zhardetski said there are ‘no reasons’ for Belarus to suspend its league and insists coronavirus concerns are always considered.
"We review the situation on a daily basis," he said. "We fully trust our health care system and there are currently no reasons for stopping the league.
"We understand that the situation in some countries is very serious but having consulted with the corresponding authorities in Belarus we have an understanding that our league can continue for the moment."
The league has been named the "last league on earth” following its federation’s insistence to continue playing, but Zhardetski admits he is unperturbed about that tag.
"It is what it is," he added. "We did not ask for this label, but the situation in Belarus is really not that critical to close the tournament."
