The 20-year-old forward was heavily linked with a move away from the Paris-based club after he revealed it is time for him to seek new challenge during an awards night in France.
Mbappe, to end the suspense created among the PSG faithful, the World Cup winner has apologised to the fans, insisting his words were misinterpreted.
"I have discovered a lot here, and I feel it is maybe the moment to have more responsibility. I hope that can perhaps be at PSG, that would be a great pleasure. Or maybe elsewhere with a new project.
"I have no desire to leave. My words were ambiguous, only the coach, the president and I knew what I was talking about," Mbappe told a news conference ahead of the Trophee des Champions meeting with Rennes in Shenzhen on Saturday.
"I take this opportunity to apologise to the players. I spoiled the party a little. I stole the show negatively.
"Fans, too. I'm sorry. Let's say I apologise but they did not understand the message. But it was in the interest of PSG. Today, everything is fine.
"I can play in a quality team with players who make me progress. Everything's going well for me."
Having disclosed his desire of remaining with PSG, the pacey winger claimed he has also issued a plea to his Brazilian teammate Neymar to ignore all advances made by several potential suitors.
“I want him to stay and I’ve told him what I think of the situation, it’s clear for me.
“He’s an important player here and I want him to stay.
“Ney was like he always is, full of qualities and he showed that,” the France star said.
“When Neymar trained, he was excellent, in form. He had plenty of quality, like always.
“Everything was great yesterday. Neymar is in good spirits. It's unfortunate that he's suspended because it would have been good to have him with us.
“He and Verratti changed the atmosphere. They were smiling, it’s good.”
