Dybala has established himself as one of the best footballers in the world since he joined Juventus from Palermo in the summer of 2015.
The Argentina international was on the verge of leaving Turin last summer after he failed to hit the height of his usual standards during the 2018/19 season.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were ready to secure the services of Dybala, but the 26-year-old decided to stay and fight for his place.
Dybala has scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists across 34 games in all competitions this season, being one of Juventus’ best performers together with Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Del Piero thinks Dybala has matured as his recent performances in Italy shows and insists he was happy with how the former Instituto man handled the rumours surrounding him during last summer’s transfer window.
"Dybala has already worn the captain’s armband a few times and if that happened, it’s because at Juventus they consider him to be worthy of it,” Del Piero told Sky Sport Italia.
“Considering what I know of him personally, his performances on the field and off, I think that Paulo has really matured in recent months. The best show of that was how he dealt with what happened over the summer, his reaction emblematic of how much he has grown.
“We knew he was someone who loves to work and today I feel he has become a complete player.”
