Claudia Lai Nainggolan revealed in July last year that she had contracted the deadly disease and has been undergoing chemotherapy ever since.
Claudia’s chemotherapy sessions have led to a weakened immune system and the Covid-19 disease is particularly disastrous for people with underlying health conditions, the weak and the aged.
Italy is the worst affected country in Europe with over 80,000 coronavirus cases and more than 8,000 deaths.
The whole country has been placed on lockdown in a bid to contain the spread of the virus but people are occasionally allowed to go out and shop for grocery.
'Coronavirus is a big problem, we're only talking about this,' the Belgium midfielder, 31, said on Instagram.
'Hospitals are being avoided and therapies are being pushed back a bit.
'It's therefore hoped that everything will go well as quickly as possible because she [Claudia] still has a weak immune system.
'Therefore, she's avoiding hospitals. There are waiting lists that determine when she can go next.
'Now, when I go shopping, there's a risk that I can catch the virus. When I get home, I'm afraid I could pass it on to her, but I'm careful and I think everything went well.
'We've already gone through the toughest period, things are going in the right direction right now.'
Radja and Claudia married in 2011 and the couple are blessed with two daughters.
