Italy has confirmed over 20,000 cases of Covid-19 and it is said to be the most affected country after China, where the virus originated.
Schools, restaurants and all other public places have also been closed just to check the spread of the pandemic.
Serie A and Champions League fixtures have been suspended due to the rapid spread of the virus across Europe.
Napoli were on a good run of form before the enforced break as they were unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions.
Gattuso believes it will be very difficult to adapt with the implications of coronavirus and insists it will have negative impact on people’s lives.
“We are experiencing something strange, which changes our lives and our routines. Mentally it’s very difficult,” the former AC Milan boss said according to Football Italia.
“It’s impossible to go out in the evening or go to a restaurant. Schools and other services are closed. The government has closed everything, and people can’t leave the house.
“We are of the same flesh, of the same blood. This is a silent virus. Many are infected and don’t know it.”
The Italian was named the manager of Napoli to replace Carlo Ancelotti in December following a poor string of results.
