Del Piero Tips Guardiola To Make Juventus Move

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero says Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola would be a suitable candidate to become the Old Lady’s next manager.

Guardiola’s long-term future at Manchester City has been shrouded in doubt after the club were handed a two-year ban from European competitions by UEFA for breaking Financial Fair Play rules and breaching club licensing regulations.

Guardiola has a contract at the Etihad stadium until the summer of 2021 but he has a break clause in his deal that allows him to quit at the end of this season.

There are fears in England that Guardiola and some of Manchester City’s players will depart if the Court of Arbitration for Sport fails to overturn their ban.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager joined Man City in the summer of 2016 and has led the club to two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and two League Cups.

Having won league titles in his native Spain, Germany and England, former Juventus captain Del Piero believes Guardiola’s next assignment would be to conquer Italy, where he starred for Brescia and AS Roma towards the end of his playing career.

'In Italy there are already rumours saying that the coach and many players will leave the club,' Del Piero said. 'The whole of football thinks they can steal something from Manchester.

'Last summer there was a lot of talk that he was coming to Juventus and that is still happening.

'Every club in the world would love him as a coach and I would love to see Pep in Italy.

'He has won in Spain, Germany and England. If we follow that path I think maybe it is his destiny to go to Juve.'

Juventus are currently managed by former Napoli and Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, who has a contract at the Allianz Stadium until 2022.
