Juventus Reward Szczesny With New Contract

Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2024.

The 29-year-old joined the Turin-based club from Arsenal in the summer of 2017 after initially starring in Serie A for AS Roma on a two-year loan from the Gunners.

Szczesny has cemented his place as Juventus’ number one goalkeeper ever since Gianluigi Buffon left for Paris Saint Germain prior to the 2018/2019 season, and even though the former Italian goalkeeper has returned to the club, the Poland international has kept his place in Maurizio Sarri’s starting eleven.

Szczesny has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Juventus this season with the Old Lady still in with a shout of winning a ninth consecutive Serie A title, the Champions League and Coppa Italia.

"[I have] beautiful feelings, because this is a demonstration on behalf of the club of the trust they have in me, and so I am very happy,” Szczesny told Juventus’ official website after signing the new deal.

"I will look to keep giving my best in the next few years with Juve."

He added: "I am here until 2024 and I want to win everything. This is the objective of the club and the players. We need to sweat, to run and sacrifice to achieve the objectives, which is more trophies and titles.

“I want to thank all the fans for everything they have given me, the sensations when I go onto the field. I promise to always do my best for this club.

"Nearly three years have passed [since my debut] and I always look to improve and do my best.

Szczesny has won two Serie A titles in his time at Juventus.
