Eriksen Opens Up On Last Days At Spurs

Inter Milan forward Christian Eriksen has admitted he felt like a ‘black sheep’ during his final days at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Denmark superstar joined Spurs in August 2013 from Eredivisie side Ajax for a fee of around £11.5m.

After a long protracted transfer saga, the 27-year-old finally joined Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan in the January transfer window for €20m.

Eriksen disclosed his intentions to leave North London in the wake of Tottenham’s Champions League final defeat to Liverpool, but his wish could not be granted until the January transfer window, when he made a switch to Milan.

Following Tottenham’s poor start to the season and the shocking dismissal of head coach Mauricio Pochettino in November, Eriksen feels he was an easy target for fans and pundits.

"If you have a short contract, you will be the black sheep,” Eriksen told BBC Sport.

"Of course, I did the interview. I was very honest. I felt I had to be honest. I did not want to hide like a lot of players do. Everyone is different. I was honest. I wanted to say it out loud.

"I did get the blame for a lot of stuff, for being the bad guy. I read I was the bad person in the changing room, that ever since I said I wanted to leave, it was no good me being there.

"To be honest, over the last few years, if anything came up, any player would think about leaving but I was the guy who said it publicly."
