Hazard Resumes Training After Injury Layoff

Eden Hazard has resumed training at Real Madrid following an ankle injury that has kept him out of action for nearly two months.

The 29-year-old Belgian suffered the injury in a Champions League game against French champions Paris Saint Germain at the Santiago Bernabeu on November 26 following a tackle from international teammate Thomas Meunier.

Hazard was initially supposed to be sidelined for 10 days but suffered a relapse in his recovery and has missed crucial games since, including the season’s first El Classico and the Spanish Super Cup triumph earlier this year in Saudi Arabia.

The news of Hazard’s recovery will be a welcome boost for Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid continue to battle it out with Barcelona for the La Liga title while the Champions League round of 16 clash with Manchester City is not too far away either.

The weekend’s league game against Real Valladolid might come too soon for Hazard but he should be available for selection in next week’s Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid.

Hazard joined Real Madrid in a big-money move from Chelsea in the summer but is yet to set the Santiago Bernabeu alight with the exceptional performances he is usually associated with.

The 29-year-old has scored just one goal and provided one assist from 13 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos this season.

Captain Sergio Ramos has also returned to training, having not played since the Super Cup final as a result of an ankle injury.
