The quartet have been labelled the ‘fantastic four’ following their devastating form in front of goal this season.
The Parisians head coach Thomas Tuchel has deployed one of the most fearsome 4-2-4 formations with Neymar, Mbappe, Icardi, and Di Maria upfront.
Speaking after Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-1 win at the Stade Louis II against Monaco on Wednesday, Mbappe said the French champions have more than the fantastic four and insists attention should rather be on the whole team.
“I think above all that we are talking a bit too much about us playing with four attackers,” the 21-year-old told Canal+.
“I feel like we are playing with four attackers in a five-a-side team. But we are playing with 11 men.”
“We know that we have very good players, but this whole ‘Fantastic Four’ thing, all that, it is not our thing.
“We want to help the team to win, we want to win trophies and we leave superlatives used to describe us to someone else.”
Next up for Paris Saint-Germain and Mbappe is a trip to face Lorient in the French Cup on Sunday.
