Mata Urges Pogba To Stay At Man United

Manchester United midfielder, Juan Mata has added his voice to the uncertainties surrounding teammate Paul Pogba’s future as he demands him to remain with the club.

The World Cup winner has been linked with a move away from the Old Trafford after he announced his desire for a new challenge in June.

After completing his mega-money move of €105 million (£89.3 million) to United, then a world record in 2016, the wantaway midfielder has somewhat failed to impress at the Theatre of Dreams.

But the former Juventus player completed last term as the highest scorer for the side and also recorded more assists than any other player in the squad.

Mata believes desperate to leave Pogba has a positive influence on the squad as he wants him to stay put and unify the side in the upcoming season.

“We all know Paul and he is a fantastic midfielder, and a very good guy, very positive, and a good influence for everyone," said Mata.

"I think he is happy and brings everyone together, but I cannot speak for other people - I speak for myself.

"As a team-mate and a friend I would like him to stay and be happy because he is a very good player for us."

Before Mata’s demand for Pogba to stay, United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer previously promised the midfielder of a new challenge at Man United next season.

"I've said many times about Paul that he's a top, top boy and a great player and he's never, ever been a problem.

"When we get him playing as he did when I came in, and if we get him playing like that again, he will win you over as well.

"I've not been upset by anything he's said because we've had many conversations and I know exactly what Paul is thinking. I can give him a new challenge."
