The Welsh international’s future at the 13-time European champions has been in doubt for some time following Zidane’s return to the club in March.
Bale has been linked with moves to clubs in the English Premier League, Germany and the Chinese super league but he still has three years left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bale’s weekly wage of around £600,000 is serving as a stumbling block to any deal being struck with interested parties and the Welshman is seemingly relaxed about the situation despite the acquisition of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic further hampering his chances of securing a regular starting berth in the Madrid line up.
Bale was an unused substitute as Real Madrid succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup on Saturday, and Zidane admitted afterwards that the 30-year-old’s time at the club was coming to an end.
Zidane told reporters: "Bale did not play because he is very close to leaving.
"We hope he leaves soon, it would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team."
"I have nothing personal against him, but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done, I have to make decisions, we have to change," he added.
"The exit is the coach's decision, and also of the player, who knows the situation.
"The situation will change, I do not know if in 24 or 48 hours, but it will, and it's a good thing for everyone."
The former Southampton youngster joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspurs in August 2013 for a then-world record fee of €100m, but after winning four Champions League trophies, one La Liga and scoring over 100 goals for the club, the Madridistas have still not taken to Bale.
