David Luiz Tips Arteta To Be A Top Manager

Brazil defender David Luiz has tipped new Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta to be one of the best tacticians in the world.

Arteta was Pep Guardiola’s understudy at Manchester City and had no previous experience managing a top club before landing the Arsenal job.

The Spaniard has taken one point out of the possible six in his first two matches for the Gunners, in games against Bournemouth and Chelsea.

Despite a slow start to his reign at the Emirates Stadium, Luiz, who has worked with top coaches like Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Laurent Blanc, insists Arteta has what it takes to join the elite of managers.

"For me, Arteta is going to be one of the best coaches in the world," he told Sky Sports.

"I have had the opportunity to have many coaches during my career.”

"He is intelligent, he was a player, he is clever. I think he's going to be one of the best, but it's part of our job to help him do that, especially in the beginning because everybody doubts.”

The 32-year-old said Arsenal’s first half performance against Chelsea is a glimpse of what is to come from Arteta.

He added: "But I really trust in this philosophy, I really trust in the way he sees football. That's why we could see Arsenal dominate the first half with amazing football, with a lot of quality.

"I think if we scored the second goal, it would have been a different game."

"When you know football, it is much easier to explain. It's much easier to try to help and it's much easier to understand the heads of the players on the pitch.”
