The 19-year-old has been linked with a number of top European clubs like RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Solskjaer previously worked with Haaland for two seasons at the Eliteserien outfit Molde FK and he is keen to bring his compatriot to Old Trafford in January.
Speaking after Manchester United’s 3-1 win against Colchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter final on Wednesday, the former Cardiff City coach insists the club looks "for players who can complement the others we have".
