Mane is currently on international duty with Senegal at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where the Teranga Lions will face Algeria in Friday’s final at the Cairo international stadium.
Mane missed Senegal’s opening game of the competition through suspension but he has played every game thereafter, scoring three times.
It completes a grueling last 12 months for the 27-year-old, who featured in all of Senegal’s games at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia before playing 46 times for Liverpool last season including the Champions League final triumph over Tottenham Hotspurs on June 1.
Liverpool have already begun pre-season preparations without last season’s English Premier League joint-top goalscorer, and with their League opener with Norwich on August 9 sandwiched between a Community Shield game against champions Manchester City on August 4 and the UEFA Super Cup game with Chelsea on August 14, Klopp is alarmed Mane could miss those games as he tries to catch some breath.
"With Sadio, we have to see about him after the final – how he is feeling and stuff like that," Klopp told Liverpool's official website.
"It will be really difficult. Sixteen days before we play City, his season is finished. We will have to make a decision, but we haven't made it yet."
Mane will be looking to complete an outstanding season for club and country by adding the Africa Cup of Nations trophy to his Champions League crown when Senegal face Algeria on Friday.
