Juventus Complete The Signing Of De Ligt

Juventus have sealed the transfer of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax for an initial €75 million.

The highly coveted 19-year-old defender signed a five-year contract with the Serie A champions.

De Ligt agreed personal terms with the Old Lady earlier this month as he passed his medical on Wednesday at the J Medical facilities.

Graduating through Ajax’s youth rank, De Ligt became a mainstay in the Ajax squad in two exceptional seasons as he was named the club's youngest captain.

De Ligt will play alongside seasoned veterans Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonnuci in the heart of the Serie A champions backline.

The completion of De Ligt’s transfer to Juventus has ended the pursuit of Barcelona, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain as they were heavily linked with the Dutch defender before the Bianconeri moved to make him their seventh signing this summer.

Having played a pivotal role in Ajax's run to the Eredivisie title De Ligt recorded three goals in thirty-three league games with one assist and three goals in the Champions League.

Juventus will now look to reclaim their European status for the first time in 23 years after replacing Massimiliano Allegri with former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, having secured the services of Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey from Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal respectively.
