Stanislas has been bedeviled by injury problems over the last two years, culminating in his departure from the Cherries at the end of the 2022/2023 campaign.
The former England u-21 international started his career at West Ham United before having spells at Southend United and Burnley.
After joining Bournemouth in 2014, Stanislas was part of two promotion teams at the Vitality Stadium.
In an emotional interview with Sky Sports, Stanislas said: "It's something I'd been thinking about a lot to be fair before the season ended last year.
"But the time is right now to announce my retirement out to everyone so I can kind of move on and put it to bed really."
"The last couple of years I've had quite a few injuries.
"I've always had a couple of niggles throughout my career, missed games and stuff, but I think the last couple of years it's been more consistent.
"Then had quite a bad back injury - slipped my disk - last year/the year before. Then tried to manage it which didn't really clear up.
"So I think it's a long time coming, but one I've made peace with a little while ago."
One of Stanislas' famous moments in the Premier League was scoring directly from a corner in 2015 against Manchester United, with David De Gea in goal.
