Guardiola Interested In Extending Man City Stay

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he would be interested in extending his stay at the club beyond the summer of 2021.

Guardiola joined the Citizens in the summer of 2016 and has won two Premier League titles, two League cups and one FA Cup during his time in charge at the Etihad Stadium.

The 48-year-old, who is in his fourth season in England, has never spent more than four years at a club leading to suggestions he might depart when his contract runs out.

He was in charge for four years at Barcelona, winning three La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies while his spell in Germany with Bayern Munich lasted for three seasons.

Asked if he would be interested in prolonging his stay, the Spaniard said: "I'm open (to it), yes. I'm so comfortable working with this club.

"It depends on results. When you are (somewhere for) five years it depends on the results. We will see what happens this season and next season."

"It is not about what the club wants or not. For me, I want to see my players and the reaction of my players and everything.

"It is not as simple as I want to extend. I want to see the club, I want to see the players, I want to see how we are still working together.

"That is the most important thing after five years together. You have to feel like we can do it together and enjoy to work together.

"When I feel that is not worse, we will see with the club the best way."

Manchester City travel to Newcastle United in the early Premier League kickoff on Saturday, looking to close the gap on leaders Liverpool to six points.
