Eto’o retired from professional football in September and has plans of moving into coaching.
The 38-year-old has however begun life-after-football by setting up a betting company called Beto’o in his native Cameroon to help address employment challenges among the youth.
Eto’o’s previous business venture –a telecommunications company called Set’Mobile –collapsed shortly after being established in 2012.
The four-time African footballer of the year has enrolled in Harvard to gain the needed knowledge and skills to keep the business in operation this time round.
He told Jeune Afrique magazine: "When you are a footballer you pay others to look after your business interests.
"But once it is down to you to manage them, and you want them to grow, you need to acquire new skills.
"So I will resume my studies, to learn business management.
"I will go to Harvard University in January. They have been good enough to let me take a specialised course.
"I will be in Boston for almost a year. It won't be easy, but it will open new doors to me.
"My betting company belongs to a group of young African people who asked me to join them.
"I agreed to let them use my image following months of talks, as I was touched by their faith in Africa.
"They convinced me that together we can improve people's daily lives."
A three-time UEFA Champions League winner, Eto’o turned out for clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea during an illustrious career, and is also the all-time top scorer in Africa Cup of Nations history with 18 goals.
