Mourinho Rules Out Ibrahimovic Reunion At Spurs

Tottenham Hotspurs manager Jose Mourinho says the availability of the ‘best striker in England’ Harry Kane means there will be no need to bring on board Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic will be available on a free transfer in December when his contract with Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy expires.

The 38-year-old former Sweden international has been touted with a return to Europe and has been linked with the likes of AC Milan, Bologna, Manchester United and most recently, Tottenham Hotspurs.

Mourinho and Ibrahimovic crossed paths at Inter Milan in the 2008/2009 season, winning the Italian Serie A title, and also linked up at Manchester United in the summer of 2016 which brought League Cup and Europa League successes.

Despite knowing all about Ibrahimovic’s talents, Mourinho thinks it will make ‘no sense’ to sign him when he has Harry Kane in his ranks.

"I have more than a connection [with Ibrahimovic]," the former Chelsea manager said ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League game with Olympiacos.

"He's an amazing player, amazing guy, but I would say no chance.

"We have the best striker in England. We have one of the top two or three strikers in the world.

"A striker of Zlatan's dimension...obviously in his late 30s but still a striker that can play at any club in the world.

"[But] it doesn't make sense to sign him when we have Harry Kane."

Harry Kane has scored 11 goals in 16 games this season, and his strike against West Ham United at the weekend took him to third on the list of Tottenham’s all-time top scorers with 175 goals in 269 games.
