Mourinho was sent off shortly after half time following an altercation with fourth official Marco Serra.
It was the third time the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United manager has been sent to the stands this season.
Mourinho will therefore miss Roma's fixture against Juventus this weekend as well as their subsequent game against Sassuolo.
The 60-year-old stormed the referees' dressing room after the game at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.
The official Serie A press release states that Mourinho faces sanctions: “For having contested a refereeing decision in a forceful and provocative manner in the second minute of the second half and repeating this behaviour at the time of sending off.”
“Furthermore, for entering the referees’ dressing room and addressing the fourth official with offensive expressions and inferences at the end of the match.”
Roma became the first side to lose to Cremonese in the Italian top flight this season.
The newly promoted side had drawn nine and lost 14 of their previous 23 games before facing Mourinho's side.
The win moved Cremonese off the foot of the Serie A table into 19th position but they are still eight points adrift of safety while Roma have dropped to fifth.
It is the second time Cremonese have gotten the better of Roma this season after also knocking them out of the Coppa Italia.
