Reus Slams Wasteful Dortmund After Paderbon Draw

Marco Reus has condemned the performance of Borussia Dortmund after his side’s 3-3 draw against rock-bottom SC Paderborn on Friday night.

The Black and Yellows came back from three goals down, to draw against Steffen Baumgart’s men at the Signal Iduna, thanks to second half goals from Jadon Sancho, Axel Witsel and Reus.

The newly-promoted team had not scored a goal in three matches and picked up just four points from their first 11 Bundesliga games of the season.

Dortmund were heavily beaten 4-0 by bitter rivals Bayern Munich before the international break, so a win against Paderbon could have alleviated their misery.

After the game, some of the home fans were heard booing when the players walked towards the stands, and the team’s captain has apologized to the fans following a lacklustre performance.

"We can never play like that again," he told DAZN after Dortmund missed the chance to move up to second place in the table.

"We don't know what happened there. We are ashamed, we must never perform like that again. That was all absolute sh*t."

The German then moved to defend his under-fire coach Lucien Favre, who has come under intense scrutiny.

"The coach puts us in a great position every time. We're responsible for putting our performance on the pitch, and we do not have to talk about the coach, but about us," the forward said.

"If 80,000 people come here on a Friday night, we cannot offer that."

Dortmund are now five-points behind Borussia Monchengladbach who are first on the league table.
