Chelsea Duo Abraham and Tomori Included In England Squad For EURO 2020 Qualifiers

Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have been called up by England for the upcoming EURO 2020 qualifying matches against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

Gareth Southgate has decided to reward the pair, after their impressive start to life at Stamford Bridge this season and they join fellow club team-mates Mason Mount and Ross Barkley in the squad.

This is the first time in two years that Abraham has been called but for Tomori, this is his maiden call-up.

They were both eligible to play for Nigeria.

However, there is no place for Dele Alli, Jesse Lingard, Kyle Walker and Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Gareth Southgate said of Tammy Abraham: "It was a fairly easy decision as he's the leading English goal scorer in the league.

"We put him into the squad very young, when we were changing the complexion of what we were doing. That was a bit early for him but because of the opportunity given to him by Frank Lampard at Chelsea, we've brought him back in.

"This is now a great chance for Tammy. He's always scored goals for our junior teams, he's done that in the Championships and now he's grasped his opportunity at the beginning of this season."

Tomori, who has played youth football for both Canada and England, has impressed for Chelsea this season, just as he did under Lampard at Derby County last season, catching Southgate’s eye in the process.
