Van Der Vaart Urges Kane To Snub Real Madrid Move

Former Netherlands international Rafael Van Der Vaart has urged Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to snub a potential move to Real Madrid and stay in England.

Kane’s lack of trophies with the Lilywhites has seen speculation around his future mount in recent weeks and he had been linked with some of the top guns in English and European football after another impressive season in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old England captain cast doubt on his long-term Spurs future during the recent international break.

Van Der Vaart, who played for both Tottenham and Real Madrid during his career, has opined that English players generally do not perform to the required standard after making moves to Los Blancos, with the likes of David Beckham, Steve McManaman, Michael Owen and Jonathan Woodgate enjoying varying degrees of successes in the Spanish capital.

"He is now the best striker after [Robert] Lewandowski, and he is the man at Tottenham," the former Tottenham and Madrid midfielder told Ziggo Sport.

"It may sound crazy, but you would almost say go to Manchester United or something, stay in England.

"Usually, it's not such a success when an English player goes to Madrid."

Kane is enjoying another prolific campaign with Jose Mourinho’s men, having struck 29 times in 41 appearances across all competitions.
