‘World Best’ Mbappe Urged To Exceed Messi And Ronaldo

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Kylian Mbappe is already among the best footballers in the world and believes the France international has the potential to beat the records of Lionel Messi and his long-term archrival Cristiano Ronaldo.

The French Ligue 1 champions are vehemently waiting to tie down one of their prized assets to a new contract.

Mbappe has been with the Parisians since the beginning of the 2017/2018 season and his current deal expires in the summer of 2022.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from France and Real Madrid are said to be one of his potential destinations.

Mbappe in recent interview posited that he is very happy at the Parc des Princes and is ready to accept a long-term contract to stay in the French capital.

While waiting for the 2018 World Cup winner to put pen on paper, his manager Pochettino has waxed lyrical about the Frenchman’s talent and insists he could be greater than the current two of the best footballers of this generation.

"He has the potential," the Argentine stated when asked by AFP whether Mbappe could succeed Messi and Ronaldo at the top of the sport. "He lacks nothing but time.

"We cannot speed up the process. I think he's already among the best in the world.

"It will take time for him to flesh out his CV, to get the recognition he deserves and will get.”

Mbappe has been in fine form this season as he has netted 23 goals and provided nine assists in 31 appearances for PSG in all competitions this season.
