Former Red Devil Urges Manchester United To Play Pogba And Fernandes Together

Jonathan Greening has entreated Manchester United to play Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in the same midfield.

Fernandes joined the Red Devils from Sporting CP during the January transfer window and has hit the ground running in his few months in England.

The Portugal international’s performances have coincided with Manchester United’s upturn in form, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are yet to lose since Fernandes’ debut.

Fernandes was named player of the month for February after scoring two goals and providing three assists in just five appearances.

Pogba on the other has played just eight games in all competitions this season, having been ruled out for majority of the season with an ankle injury.

The Frenchman’s commitment and desire at Old Trafford have been questioned, with others calling for the board to ship him out.

Greening believes Pogba should not be cast aside and insists the former Juventus man must play alongside Fernandes.

“They need to sort out the Paul Pogba situation, because he’s such a good player, and when he’s on his game he’s unreal,” he told Grand National.

“I’d like to see him back fit playing with Bruno Fernandes, leaving Scott McTominay or Fred sitting in. Let those two [Pogba and Fernandes] play together, and they’ll bounce off each other really well.

“If Paul Pogba stays, commits himself, he’s happy and fit and wants to play there (at United) it will be immense for the team and a massive boost.”
