Man Utd Officially Announce Pogba Departure

Paul Pogba's second spell as a Manchester United player is officially over.

The Red Devils have announced that the France international will leave the club as a free agent after failing to agree a new contract.

Pogba returned to Manchester United in the summer of 2016 from Juventus in a then world record fee of £89m and won the Europa League and Carabao Cup in his first season.

But those two pieces of silverware remained the only ones he would win at Old Trafford as he flattered to deceive on several occasions.

Pogba had joined Juventus as a free agent from Manchester United four years earlier before returning in the big-money move.

In all, Pogba made 226 appearances in his second spell with United, scoring 39 goals and recording 51 assists.

United have said a final goodbye to Pogba in a statement on their official website, which reads: "The club can announce that Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United at the end of June, upon the expiry of his contract.

"Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.

"We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey."

Pogba started the 2021/2022 season on a high, recording four assists in a 5-1 win over Leeds United in Manchester United's opening game but fitness issues took their toll and the World Cup winner managed just 20 Premier League appearances; his final outing coming in the 4-0 loss at Liverpool in April when he went off injured after 10 minutes.

Another portion of the statement added: "It was a low-key end to a United career that brought so many individual high moments."

"So many beautiful goals, assists and pieces of skill.

"For a boy that joined the academy at 16 to make over 200 United appearances and lift the Youth Cup, along with two major pieces of silverware, is something that should be applauded and celebrated."
