Adebayor Pessimistic About Second Chance For Aubameyang At Arsenal

2008 Africa footballer of the year, Emmanuel Adebayor, does not believe Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will get a second chance to play for Arsenal.

Aubameyang has been left out in the cold since December by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta following a disciplinary breach.

The 32-year-old is back in London after travelling to Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations, where he did not play a single game for Gabon after suffering complications from a positive coronavirus test.

Arsenal are reportedly considering offers for Aubameyang, and Adebayor, who once starred for the Gunners for three-and-a-half seasons before an acrimonious exit for Manchester City, is pessimistic the North Londoners will have a change of heart for their former skipper.

"This isn't the first problem that's happened with Arsenal. I know he's definitely going to go through a lot because that's Arsenal for you, you can do whatever you do, they never knew how to forgive," Adebayor told Sky Sports.

"He's a strong player, he's a good player, he's a fantastic player and I've sent him a message already. We just want him to bounce back because he's an African brother and we want to see him representing Africa like he was before the problem."

On Aubameyang having a route back into the team, he noted: “I don’t think so, this is what I know because it happened to me also.

“Not in the same way but in Arsenal, a way back I would be surprised [to see]. But he’s a great player so let’s see how it ends up.”

The former Borussia Dortmund and Saint Etienne striker has scored four goals in 14 Premier League games this season.
