Solskjaer Takes Delight In Manchester United Criticism

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he has always taken delight in getting criticised as manager of Manchester United.

Solskjaer’s job at Old Trafford looked to be on the line after failing to win in four Premier League games, which included three losses and a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of rivals Liverpool.

The Norwegian found some reprieve over the weekend when United returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory away at Tottenham Hotspurs.

Solskjaer has come in for criticism for failing to get the best out of a talented Man United squad that has been boosted with the summer signings of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho.

But Solskjaer is adamant he uses that criticism to fuel his drive for success.

"Criticism can make you doubt yourself or you can stand up for yourself," he told reporters ahead of the Champions League clash with Atalanta on Tuesday.

"I've always enjoyed criticism, keep it coming. Journalists, pundits – we've all got different jobs and it's their job to give their opinion. I am not here to fight with them, I don't need a spat with them."

"The next one is the one that matters and we've been looking, working together for consistency and when we get that we'll get consistent results. One swallow doesn't make a summer.

"We will keep focusing on what we did well. [The schedule] is relentless. It is a chance tomorrow to prove we can go again."
