Southgate Pleads For Patience With Sancho At Old Trafford

England head coach Gareth Southgate hopes fans will remain patient with summer signing Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford.

Southgate believes that his compatriot will show his worth in Manchester very soon and has pleaded fans to rally behind him.

After a year of constant speculations regarding his future at Borussia Dortmund, the Englishman secured a big move to the Premier League to feature for the Red Devils this summer.

Sancho is yet to hit his known standard in England despite playing nine games in all competitions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Sancho was included in the England squad for the World Cup qualifiers and he rewarded the manager by putting up a dazzling performance against Andorra.

Sancho provided two assists in a 5-0 victory against Andorra and Southgate lauded the winger’s display ahead of England’s game against Hungary.

“It was not easy for a winger in the game because quite often you are receiving the ball with two, sometimes three, defenders really close,” Southgate said.

“So you've got to pick the right moment to set the ball off and the right moments to back yourself to maybe take one or two of those players out and I thought he did that exceptionally well a couple of times.

“It is important that he got the assist because you've also got to have that productivity and the right pass or the right cross at the end of those passages of play.”

He concluded: “He is having a difficult time at his new club but he is a very talented boy, I am very sure he will start delivering, the fans need to be patient with him.”
