Donnarumma left AC Milan in an acrimonious manner to PSG as his departure angered the Rossoneri fans with his return to the Italian national team marred by hostile reactions.
Being in the starting line-up for the Azzurri against Spain in the UEFA Nations League, Donnarumma was booed by some section of the home fans.
Responding to the incident, Donnarumma's father Alfonso has insisted that he was aware his son was going to be booed by the AC Milan fans.
"He is stronger than the whistles.
"I was at the stadium and, of course, I expected it, even if I hoped it wouldn’t happen,” Donnarumma’s father Alfonso told La Repubblica.
"However, Gigio was playing for his country, not for his club. Whistles have hurt him more than us, but he is broad-shouldered, he already has experience both in Serie A and internationally.
"He is even more motivated in these moments.
"I hope there are no other disputes, but he is calm. He has settled well in Paris and is happy, like us.
"He goes his way and does not let himself be conditioned. He is stronger than those whistles."
Donnarumma joined PSG on a free transfer after talks to renew his contract at AC Milan stalled.
The 22-year-old has made three appearances for the Parisians in the Ligue 1.
