New AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham has disclosed what Jose Mourinho told him before joining the Italian side.

Desperate for a first team opportunities to earn a call-up to the England national team, Abraham moved to Italy to join AS Roma.

Revealing what Mourinho told him to motivated his transfer from Stamford Bridge this summer, Abraham said;

“I had to open my wings a bit and make a choice and I chose Italy and would not change it.”

He added: “I could see where he (Mourinho) wanted Roma to go and I wanted to be part of the process.

“He is a good man and has helped me a lot so far. I have learnt so much tactically — as much as I have in my entire lifetime. Jose said the fans would be looking at me to bring some life into the team.

“I knew from the get-go there were going to be a lot of eyes on me. I had to give good first impressions and that’s what I’ve done.”

Having graduated through the youth ranks at Chelsea, Abraham has had loan stints with Swansea, Bristol City and Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old has featured 7 times for AS Roma, scoring 2 goals and two assists as the Giallorossi sit fourth on the table with 15 points.
