‘We Had A Good Performance’ - Insists Guardiola Despite Defeat At PSG

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that his men had a good performance despite a 2-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League group stage game on Tuesday night.

Guardiola says his men were good against the Parisians and will quickly switch their attention to the upcoming game in the Premier League at Liverpool.

PSG came to avenge their last season’s semi-final exit at the hands of Manchester City, and deservedly took the lead in the opening eight minutes through midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Manchester City fairly dominated the first half and mustered eight shots at goal but were kept at bay by Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

The Citizens’ dominance continued in the second half but it took Lionel Messi’s pure touch of magic to secure the hosts’ first win of the season in Europe, with his first goal for the club on 74 minutes.

Guardiola, who was having an interview with BT Sport after the game seemed unperturbed as he admitted his men had a good display at the Parc des Princes.

“Good performance. We did everything except score. They defended deep and were dangerous with counter-attack,” the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich head coach said

"My biggest compliment for the team.

"In the second half [Gianluigi] Donnarumma made good saves. The team was there - the same as Stamford Bridge. It's a pity. We played to win. Unfortunately they didn't need much to score their goals.

"The [Messi] goal was fantastic.

"We're going to eat good tonight, drink a glass of wine, recover and prepare for the Liverpool game."
