Mancini Only Focused On Italy Amid Interests From Clubs

Italy head coach Roberto Mancini has insisted he is only focused on the national team and is not thinking about returning to club football.

Mancini says coaching the ‘Azzurri is the best thing’ to ever happen to his career and debunks every rumour linking him back to club football.

The 59-year-old was appointed the head coach of the Italy national team 2018, following their disappointment of missing the World Cup in Russia. The Italian quickly transformed the team and guided them to glory in Euro 2020.

Achieving success with his nation has forced him to be linked to a return to club management but the former Inter Milan and Manchester City man is focused on taking Italy to Qatar 2022.

“Now, there’s the World Cup, we have to quickly qualify, and we must try to win the UEFA Nations League,” Mancini said, according to IlRestoDelCarlino.it.

“I don’t think about the clubs, and I’m focused on the national team. Coaching the national team is the best thing.

Mancini also reflected on Italy’s success at the Wembley Stadium in the Euro 2020 showpiece.

He added: “A great joy and awareness of transmitting that sense of belonging that inherent in us Italians

“We often talked about it with the players, the common target was to do something special for our fans. Knowing that we had the support of an entire nation behind us, pushed us towards goals that many thought were unreachable.”
