“We Can Do Better’ – Tuchel Admits Despite Chelsea’s Victory Over Aston Villa

Chelsea were unconvincing against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday but managed to come out victorious with a 3-0 scoreline and head coach Thomas Tuchel was not impressed with his side’s display.

Tuchel says the Blues can do better as he acknowledged his men’s sloppiness against Dean Smith’s team.

Chelsea took the lead in the opening 15 minutes through their new marksman Romelu Lukaku, who had his first Stamford Bridge goal in 15 outings.

Mateo Kovacic, who set up Lukaku to establish an early Chelsea lead in the first half, doubled the hosts’ advantage four minutes into the second period.

The Belgium international settled Aston Villa’s defeat in the dying embers of the game with a sumptuous finish.

The scoreline was a bit flattering considering the visitors being the better team throughout the game and could have caused a lot of troubles to Chelsea if they were clinical.

Tuchel, who was speaking to the media after the game, urged the West Londoners to improve on this performance.

"They were a bit more aggressive than us in the first half. We lacked a bit of rhythm and composure. We had easy ball losses, that cost us a bit of confidence in the first half,” the German coach said.

"In the second half we forced them into early ball losses and had a high transition game at least. In the end we have a perfect result.

"We want to control more of course, but it was the moment to fight through and that is what we did.

"It’s an excellent start given the fact we had a draw in Liverpool with a man down. We play like a team, we have a certain energy, we’re able to win games. We want to give less chances away. If it happens we don’t lose our heads.

"Everyone’s aware we can do better. There are some reasons why games can look like this. If you’re still able to win 3-0, it’s a good way to progress.”
