Wicky believes Reyna has what it takes to play for Bayern Munich or other big European teams in the near future.
At the age of 18, Reyna has already established himself as a first team player at the Signal Iduna since coming through the ranks at Dortmund.
He has netted ten goals and provided eleven assists in 69 games in all competitions for the Black and Yellows.
Reyna is destined for greatness given his potential and Wicky, who coached him for a short period during his time at the United States U17, believes the former New York City academy player will soon join a bigger team if he keeps Improving.
“Gio Reyna has star potential,” Wicky told Sport Bild.
“Even as his coach with the U17s, I was blown away by his unbelievable game intelligence and technical abilities, combined with his superb physical conditioning.
“He struck gold with his transfer to Germany. Training at BVB, he’s improved his game against the ball and defensive game. He fights for the good of the team and has internalized a winning mentality.
“If Gio continues to develop like this, he can go up another level and play for one of the best five teams in the world, including Bayern Munich.”
