Premier League Player Of The Month Shortlist For August Announced

A six-man shortlist for the Premier League’s player of the month of August has been released.

West Ham United duo Said Benrahma and Michail Antonio have been nominated alongside Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood, Chelsea’s Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso, Everton’s Demarai Gray and Tottenham defender Eric Dier.

Dier has been crucial at the back in Tottenham’s impressive start to the season which has seen the North London outfit storm to the top of the Premier League table with three wins and three clean sheets.

Gray has also contributed two goals in three games for Everton, with Rafael Benitez’s side enjoying an unbeaten month with two wins and a draw.

Greenwood has scored in each of Manchester United’s opening three games against Leeds United, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Alonso has begun the season as Chelsea’s first choice left-back and crowned his impressive displays with the club’s first goal of the season from a free kick against Crystal Palace on the opening weekend.

Antonio has started off from where he left off last season with four goals and three assists for the Hammers while teammate Benrahma has struck twice and laid on two assists for his teammates.

Elsewhere, Thomas Tuchel, David Moyes, Rafael Benitez and Nuno Esperito Santo will do battle for the manager of the month award.
