After being rumoured to be leaving City this summer, Guardiola extended his stay at the club until 2023 last November.
Reaching his fifth season at City, the former Barcelona trainer led The Citizens to their third Premier League title.
Guardiola is on the verge of spending seven years at the Etihad Stadium if he runs out his current contract with the club.
Speaking at a virtual event with XP Investimentos, the 50-year-old hinted he would take a break from the game after completing his stay at Manchester City, revealing his next ambition is to take charge of a national team.
“My next step will be a national team if it’s possible. But a national team will be the next step.
“After doing seven years here, I don’t know if I’ll be here longer, I think I’ll have a break.
“I’ll rest a little after so many years, I’ll have to stop to see what we have done, how we do things, to learn from other coaches that I’m excited to take a look at, and in this process if a national team offers an opportunity to coach at a Copa America, European Championship or World Cup I would probably like to do that.”
Guardiola, ending his four-year stay at Barcelona in 2012 went on a 12-month break before moving to Bayern Munich the following year.
His chase for a Champions League medal since leaving Barcelona still continues after he was defeated 1-0 in the final by domestic rivals Chelsea.
