Former Juventus Player Aims Dig At Ronaldo

Former Juventus midfielder Domenico Marocchino has described Cristiano Ronaldo as a footballer who's more concerned with individual glories than team success.

With Juventus missing out on the Serie A title to Inter Milan resulted in many criticising the club for their poor form.

And having also failed to progress in the Champions League caused the sack of Andrea Pirlo as the manager at the end of last season.

Discussing the attacking department of Juventus, Domenico Marocchino believes Ronaldo plays for himself rather than being a team-player, praising another Serie A team Atalanta for their collective approach to games.

"Juventus does not have the classic striker. Ronaldo is not, he plays for himself not for the team.

"The zone defense then allowed many players to play for a long time, even over 30 years.

"Previously there was talk of a great season when a striker scored 16 goals. It is no coincidence that the performance of Atalanta who play almost for men has grown exponentially in recent years."

Despite the argument by Marocchino, Ronaldo registered more goals than any other player in the Serie A last term with 29 goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid in a deal worth €100 million in the summer of 2018.

The former Manchester United attacker has made 133 appearances in all competitions for Juventus and has scored 101 goals with 22 assists thus far.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's current contract with the Bianconeri is expected to expire at the end of this season.

Having impressed with Portugal at the Euro 2020, Ronaldo won the Golden Shoe award with 5 goals.

Juventus will look to reclaim the Serie A title from Inter Milan as they lock horns with Udinese for their first league game of the season on August 22.
