Marcelo Bielsa Signs Contract Extension At Leeds United

Marcelo Bielsa Signs Contract Extension At Leeds United

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has penned a new one-year deal until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Argentine gaffer will look to do more with Leeds than they did last season after gaining promotion to the top-flight.

Leeds United confirmed the news with a statement on their official website which reads;

"Leeds United are pleased to confirm Marcelo Bielsa has signed a new contract to remain in charge at Elland Road.

"The Argentine has agreed a fresh one-year-deal, running until the end of the 2021/22 season."

Bielsa, after signing the dotted lines said;

“From my point of view this is an extraordinary club.

“It’s not often you have a club who designates so much volume of investment to the improvement of the training.

“In this sense, Leeds have made a significant contribution economically for the tools for a manager to prepare his players to be the ideal ones.

“Everything that we need in this area, the club has resolved it with a very high investment.

“Whether that be the pitches, the facilities, the technology, commodities for the work of the players and in this sense, I am very astounded by the conduct of the club.

“I think the most important coaches that world football has would value what this club means in terms of organisation, structure and the public.”

Bielsa joined Leeds ahead of the 2018/19 campaign and has transformed the team into an attacking aside on the pitch.

Bielsa's second season saw Leeds winning the Sky Bet Championship title by 10 points, leading to a promotion back to the Premier League.

The 66-year-old will now begin his fourth season in charge of Leeds, as they begin their 2021-22 Premier League season against Manchester United On Saturday at Old Trafford.
