Roberts says Tottenham must find a way to get money from selling Lloris, if he does not want to continue playing for the club.
Lloris’ contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will come to an end after the 2021/2022 season and Roberts has urged Spurs to sell the France international this summer or risk losing him for free next year.
The 34-year-old has been with the North Londoners since 2012 following his four-year adventure at Olympique Lyonnais in French Ligue 1.
Lloris has been a loyal servant to the club, having played in 373 appearances in all competitions and kept 126 clean sheets.
Tottenham recently completed the signing of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan from Atalanta. The Italian keeper is going to provide competition for the club captain in the upcoming season.
The 2018 World Cup winner is reluctant to sign a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur and Roberts believes this is the best time for the club to sell him.
“If he doesn’t sign a contract, he has to go because we don’t want to lose him for nothing,” Roberts told Football FanCast.
“Maybe. If he doesn’t sign a contract, you don’t want to play a goalkeeper that at the end of the season is going to walk out.”
