Ronaldo’s Mother Plots Fairytale Return To Sporting Lisbon

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, is determined to convince her son to join newly-crowned Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon next season.

Ronaldo started his professional career with Sporting before leaving to become a world beater at Manchester United in the summer of 2003.

Ronaldo has since enhanced his reputation as one of the game’s greatest ever players with further spells at Real Madrid, where he is the club’s all-time top scorer, and Juventus.

The 36-year-old‘s contract with the Old Lady expires at the end of next season and he has been linked with moves to the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid.

However, Dolores is plotting a different route for the five-time Ballon d’or winner, as she is keen to see Ronaldo link up with the club that set him on the path to glory.

Still in buoyant mood after Sporting Lisbon were crowned Portuguese champions for the first time since 2002 on Wednesday, Dolores, outlined her future wishes for her son.

“I’ll talk to him [Cristiano] to bring him back,” Dolores said from her balcony as she spoke to Sporting fans who had taken to the streets to celebrate. “Next year he will play in Alvalade [Sporting’s stadium].”

Ronaldo has once again been in imperial form for Juventus this season, scoring 35 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.

He scored his 100th goal for Juventus in Wednesday’s 3-1 win at Sassuolo to help brighten their chances of playing Champions League football next season.
