Dunne Backs Guardiola To Beat Tuchel In Champions League Final

Former Manchester City defender Richard Dunne has backed Pep Guardiola to get the better of Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea in the Champions League final.

Tuchel might have gotten the better of Guardiola in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley last month and Saturday’s Premier League encounter, but Dunne believes the Spanish coach will get the last laugh in the final of the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea and Manchester City have both booked their tickets to play in the showpiece of the Europe’s premier club competition, following their victories against Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final ties respectively.

The English sides have met three times already this season and the Blues have won twice, with City winning only one when Frank Lampard was in charge of Chelsea.

Their latest meeting was on Saturday when the West Londoners won 2-1 to delay Guardiola’s men’s parade but Dunne believes City will beat Tuchel’s side on May 29.

“City have found it difficult to find a way past them, but they’ve not quite put out their best 11 to face them yet,” the 41-year-old Irishman told Sky Sports.

“I think you’ll see all the players you expect in a Manchester City line-up for the Champions League [final]. It will be a different occasion.

“I still think when City put out their best 11, they’re the best side in Europe.

“It’s for that reason, I think they will go on and win it.”
