Each of the contestants shortlisted come from eight different Premier League clubs.

Mason Greenwood, Stuart Dallas, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Matheus Pereira, Allan Saint-Maximin, Chris Wood, Jesse Lingard and Kelechi Iheanacho, who won the award last month, are the contenders for this month’s award.

Lingard, who has been rejuvenated since switching camp temporarily from Manchester United in January, scored four goals in April to help West Ham United’s push for a European spot.

Wood registered his first top flight hattrick during the month against Wolverhampton Wanderers and added another goal and three assists to his name to close out April while Greenwood scored four goals and provided one assist for Manchester United.

Leeds United defender Stuart Dallas capped an impressive month by scoring both goals in a surprising 2-1 victory at leaders Manchester City.

Alexander-Arnold found some much-needed form in April, scoring once and providing two assists for Liverpool and Saint-Maximin helped boost Newcastle United’s survival push with a goal and assist against Burnley.

Pereira was at his brilliant best for West Brom, with the Brazilian notching two goals and two assists in a 5-2 win at Chelsea as well as netting against Southampton and Aston Villa.

Last month’s winner Iheanacho continued his superb form for Leicester City by scoring four goals and providing two assists for the Foxes.
