Klopp Unimpressed With Liverpool’s Participation In European Super League Plans

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has showed his disappointment after the club’s decision to join the formation of European Super League.

The Reds together with other five Premier League teams have decided to join Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan in the formation of a new league that will rival the Champions League.

This decision to create a new league have been castigated by many football personalities and Klopp was asked by the media about his opinion on the European Super League, and the German coach seemed not to be happy with it despite being fairly coy.

“I said so many things now already. We were not involved in the process. We are the team, we wear the shirts with pride,” Klopp said after Liverpool 1-1 draw against Leeds United on Monday.

“Somebody has made a decision with the owners in world football that we don't know exactly why. There will be reasons, our owners, are not gamblers.

“We are here, we are the face of the club and arrived here and Leeds fans shouted at us as though we made the decision but we didn't.

"The club is bigger than all of us. We should not forget that. I don't forget that which is why I take criticism for everything I am responsible for but the team was not involved in this process and I was not involved. I don't feel responsible for it.

"Things will change in the future, maybe not now, maybe in a few years. Uefa made a decision about the Champions League, they showed me the whole thing and there were more games than before and I said I don't like but they still did it.

"Fifa plan a team World Cup, when do we play those games? All these things I have said often enough but did it change anything? No. That is the situation."
