Kane Demands More From Wantaway Team-Mates

Tottenham Hotspurs forward Harry Kane has told his fellow players who wanted a move away from the club to put aside individual demands and deliver for the side.

Most Spurs' players with the likes of Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen were all near a move away from the club in the close season.

And since the summer transfer window ended, Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham are struggling to keep their feet both domestically and continentally as they have won just twice in the last six Premier League games and also shared spoils with Olympiacos in their Champions League opener in Greece.

However, Kane is worried with the current performances of the Lily Whites and has urged his unsettled team-mates to put behind their individual aspirations and focus on the club’s success.

"Obviously in the transfer window just gone, there were players who maybe wanted to leave, and it was public knowledge that there were players close to leaving who stayed,' Kane told Sky Sports.

"So it's never easy when you have a situation like that, but now that's closed, we all just want to move in the right direction.

"Whoever is on the pitch has to give everything for the club, that's all we can ask for.

"You have to kind of put your individual needs to one side and make sure you're performing to the highest level, because that will help your individual status anyway.

"To only win two games out of our first seven is not the standards that we've set in previous years.

"Obviously the two draws at (Manchester) City and Arsenal are not terrible results, but being 2-0 up at Arsenal and drawing does feel like a terrible result.

"We've put ourselves in good positions this season, we just haven't managed to see the game out or find a way to win like we have in previous years.

"[Game management] is something we need to get better at, when we go ahead in games we need to be more confident, to see the game out, whether we drop behind the ball or carry on playing, whatever suits that game.

"We're not inexperienced any more, we're not young any more, the excuses aren't there for us anymore. It's down to us players to take responsibility."
