Ronaldo Finally Breaks Silence Amid Juventus’ Champions League Exit

Ronaldo Finally Breaks Silence Amid Juventus’ Champions League Exit

Cristiano Ronaldo has received a backlash from the media after Juventus were shockingly knocked out of this season’s UEFA Champions League by FC Porto and the Portugal superstar has finally hit back at his critics.

Ronaldo has urged the Serie A champions to turn their attention on Sunday’s game against Cagliari, insisting ‘true champions never break.’

The former Manchester United superstar joined Juventus in the summer of 2018 after spending nine years in La Liga with Real Madrid, with the hope of helping the Turin-based club win the Champions League trophy, a title that has eluded them since they last won it in the 1995/1996 season.

Despite helping Juventus to retain their supremacy in the Serie A landscape, the Bianconeri have not impressed in Europe, having never gone past the quarter-final stage since Ronaldo donned their jersey.

A defeat against Ajax in the quarter-final stage in the 2018/2019 season was followed by another catastrophic exit in the hands of Lyon in the Round of 16 stage last season.

Ronaldo received a lot of criticisms last week when he failed to inspire Juventus to progress to the next stage at the expense of Porto and now the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has come out to slam people who he thinks are being fickle.

“More important than the number of falls you take in life, is how fast and how strong you get back on your feet…,” he wrote on Instagram.

“True champions never break! Our focus is already in Cagliari, in the Serie A struggle, in the Italian Cup final and in everything that we can still achieve this season.”

“It’s true that the past belongs in museums (I should say!), but fortunately, football has memory… and so do I!” Ronaldo continued.

“History can’t be deleted, it’s written every single day with resilience, team spirit, persistence and lots of hard work. And those who don’t understand this, will never achieve glory and success.”
