‘Big compliment To The Boys’ - Klopp Talks Liverpool Victory Over RB Leipzig

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has hailed his men’s performance following a 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday.

The Reds eased past the Bundesliga outfit to secure a place in the quarter-final stage of Europe’s premier club competition.

After a goalless first half where the English champions passed up many opportunities to break the deadlock, Mohamed Salah finally gave Liverpool the lead with his trademark finish on 70 minutes and Sadio Mane put the game beyond Leipzig four minutes later after tapping home a cross from Divock Origi.

Speaking to the media after the game, Klopp lauded his men for stifling the attack of Julian Nagelsmann’s team.

"We created a lot of chances. That's us at the moment - first half massive chances and couldn't score. Again, the biggest and best thing the boys did is let nobody see how good Leipzig can be,” the former Borussia Dortmund boss said.

“They are a monster usually, they are so powerful and you saw all the runs in behind, but we defended that really well. Big compliment to the boys.

"We had to switch off that Premier League stuff, to get here and to give it a proper try. The boys really enjoyed themselves tonight, which is important. We were doing the hardest and the dirtiest work because it was a big defending challenge."

"The two centre halves played an incredible game. The whole last line played an incredible game because that is a tough task. We had to press them. We defended deep together really well, which is important. Everybody had a really good game. It was a good performance."

Liverpool will seek to translate their win in Europe to the Premier League when they make a trip to West Midlands to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium this weekend.
